The Mythical Latte Art Throwdown

The Mythical Latte Art Throwdown

From the day to day monotony of our work; at times we begin to feel stagnate in our little bubble at our shop. We lose a sense of connection to the community that enables our need for solidarity.

We were ecstatic hearing that our friends at Mythical Coffee were putting on a Latte Art Throwdown at their new location. Their new shop is located near N Scottsdale Rd. and E Shea BLVD where the once known Maverick Coffee used to be. They recently took over that spot and have revamped it; it looks amazing!

The turnout for this event was great! We caught up with some old friends, made some new ones, and were able to crush them all (in a friendly competitive way of course). First round for the Pair Cupworks team went really well with Kimhak, Nick, Mateo and myself moving past it. However, when things started to get a little tricky was when we were pinned against each other.

Our team deterioration started when Kimhak took out Mateo and Eddy destroyed Nick, all happening in the 3rd round. Naturally, debates over who beat who ensued. All joking aside, Kimhak and Eddy went on to beat the next contenders in the following rounds but inevitably faced off in the semi-finals. This was a very close call, even though Kimhak didn’t think so.

After all that internal team “turmoil”, Kimhak was able to secure 2nd place and Eddy took 3rd place (Nick still holds that this deserves an asterisks next to it). A huge congratulations to Machanzy Schneider from Berdenas for taking 1st place!

In the end, we were all just happy to be there with our team and all the incredible people that add so much to our coffee community. This is when I remember that even though somewhat indirectly, coffee is bliss.
